Position: Research Assistant, Software Developer (BigBlueButton)

Location/Campus: Seneca College, Seneca@York

Experience Level: Senior student (3rd or 4th year BSD/ CPD/ CPA), or recent graduate

Duration: 4 month contract (with potential for contract extension)

Job Type: Part-time (24 hours per week)

Description: The successful candidate will be involved in a research project titled: “Accessibility for BigBlueButton in HTML5 and Mobile Clients”. BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system for on-line learning. Development of BigBlueButton involves a community of developers from North and South America. This provides the opportunity for international collaboration. Your work on BigBlueButton will be used by companies/organizations in 92 countries around the world.

We seek candidates who have: excellent programming skills in object oriented languages, as well as HTML5 and JavaScript, and knowledge of Unix. Priority will be given to candidates possessing skills in open source development including: Git, CSS, and DOM, React, Meteor, Cordova, user interface development, experience with mobile application development, involvement with people with disabilities, and accessibility implementation.
